OpinionList: 12-28-12

It’s Friday!  So, it’s time for this week’s OpinionList.  Here it is, published a few minutes after midnight on Friday night (that is, very early on Saturday) due to internet problems:

Romney didn’t want to be President:  Tagg Romney has recently revealed that his father “wanted to be President less than anyone I’ve met.”  So, why did he run? and Oh, that’s why he looked so robotic all the time, because his heart was never in it.  Then again, neither was his brain.

More than 80,000 want Piers Morgan deported:  A petition by pro-gun advocates has been signed by over 80,000 people to have CNN’s Piers Morgan deported after his criticism of U.S. gun laws and pro-gun advocates following the Sandy Hook shooting.  Well, I got news for them, they can’t deport the 58% of Americans who now believe in stricter gun control laws.

Newsweek prints its last issue:  I’m sad that Newsweek is dead.  I always preferred it to Time magazine, especially after the latter chose George W. Bush as Person of the Year in 2004 declaring, “For sharpening the debate until the choices bled, for re-framing reality to match his design, for gambling his fortunes–and ours–on his faith in the power of leadership, George W. Bush is TIME’s 2004 Person of the Year.”  I thought I’d never forgive Time until now when they named President Obama as 2012′s Person of the Year.

Most unproductive Congress:  My suspicions have been confirmed. The current Congress is the most unproductive since the 1940′s with a current approval rating of 18%.  I blame the Republicans entirely for this, and I would say to them:  ”Stop drinking tea.  Wake up and smell the coffee!”

Utah teachers get gun training:  Sure, that’s what we need, shootouts in schools between gun-wielding teachers and gun-wielding lunatics.  We might be in the 21st century, but if we let the NRA have its way, we’ll soon be back in the Wild, Wild West.

Zuckerberg’s sister doesn’t understand Facebook:  The story of Mark Zuckerberg’s sister, Randi, who apparently lost it when a family photo posted on Facebook ended up on Twitter made me:   1.  Immediately dislike her. 2.  Remember that I still don’t understand how Facebook works. 3. Want to close my Facebook account.
