#TWAG: The World According To GOP
The GOP used to be the Grand Old Party. But, Joe Biden is never more concise, or correct when he says, “This is not your father’s Republican party.” No truer truth exists. The Republican party is no longer grand, it is more outdated than old, and it’s certainly no party (certainly not a fun one). This honorable institution which gave us President Abraham Lincoln and used to work in productive bipartisanship with its Democratic colleagues, has been replaced by an undefinable gob of obstructionism, distortion, class warfare, religious extremism, homophobia, sexism, and racism…to name a few. I’ve decided to call this creature: GOP.
GOP lives in an alternate reality. Even when it believes opposing views, it feeds itself with more lies and contradictions. GOP likes to speak in very simple sentences because it thinks that it’s very smart and that everyone else is very stupid. GOP also believes that if it repeats the same simple message over and over again, everyone will believe it. This is the world according to GOP:
1. GOP believes in the defense of life and in the death penalty.
2. GOP believes in the least amount of government interference but believes that government should totally control a woman’s body.
3. GOP believes in marriage, but not for everyone.
4. GOP believes that corporations are people.
5. GOP believes that guns don’t kill people…people kill people (even if it’s with guns).
These are just a few examples of GOP reality. I’ve decided to label every GOP incongruity I find on Twitter as #TWAG. I hope you twag along with me and twag away GOP’s insanity. See you there!

You had me until #5. GOP is ridiculous and hypocritical (but then again, I find the Democratic party sometimes hypocritical), but don’t try to take away my guns. Call me paranoid, I don’t care, but I want the right to defend my property. I live in a pretty rural area. If I called the cops, by the time they got here, someone would be dead.
But that’s just it. I don’t want to take away your guns. I just want to make sure that you don’t need to use your guns to kill that psycho who trespassed on your property with a gun because it was easy for him to get one. And I think it’s irresponsible to come up with the “guns don’t kill people” slogan. In a single year, firearms killed the following numbers of children in:
Japan: 0
Great Britain: 19
Germany: 57
France: 109
Canada: 153
United States: 5,285
According to the National Education Association Health Information Network. Now that’s a shame.
Yes, that is a sad statistic. There are a lot of sad statistics about the US.
The US has crazy crime. The prison system is ridiculous. (must get thesaurus…I’ve used ridiculous twice now.) The criminals are always going to have access to illegal guns. But guns are not the only thing to blame. I’m not defending the Republicans even a little bit. But even I get a bit worried sometimes at some of the Democrats…if some of them had their way, even I wouldn’t be allowed to have a gun in my own home.
There are crazies on both sides. There’s no doubt. It’s just that these days there seems to be a lot more on the Rep. side.
